Yellow Light of Doooooooooooom.... NO MORE!

Mein Problem

I was on my 3rd iteration of Sony's PS3 of their first gen hardware; the two before it also succumbing to the "Yellow Light of Death", ie: the system would not boot up and would only emit a yellow led and beeping followed by a blinking red led. Fin.... or so I thought.

Meine Reparatur

The repair went well, the disassembly well enough and reassembly was quite satisfying. I was dubious about the application of the new thermal coat on the CPU/GPU but the system ended up booting up quite fine; I retained all data on my hard drive and it's atleast lasted through a system update.

Mein Rat

Fix it yourself is pretty cool, I would certainly recommend this to any friends with hardware problems as opposed to shelling over $100+ for the company to replace it, if the warranty is void.

There weren't any real surprises, it was straightforward and easy, good job!
