iPhone 3gs crashing, cured by new battery

Mein Problem

My iPhone 3Gs has been draining the battery for months which I suspect was due to upgrades to the OS. In Jul and Aug 2011 it began crashing when certain demanding apps were used particularly anything that used the camera. It was not easy to find help via Google but eventually I found a link that seemed closely related to my problem. The discussion included a link to iFixit and included many positive comments.

The local repair shop wanted $80 - $90 to replace the battery. I was reticence to tackle cracking open my iPhone and doing the repair myself but the ifixit site and especially the comments from users was very encouraging. And the price was right!

Meine Reparatur

The repair took me over an hour (longer than advertised) but I was admittedly rather sheepish in my approach. In the end, my phone was fixed -- no more crashing -- and the battery seems to charge faster and last longer. It felt good to do it myself and I was VERY SATISFIED with the experience (except for the frustration of trying to find good advice via Google).

I'm now a big fan of iFixit. Love ya -- MEAN IT!
