1/31/2018.... What I did below, didn't work. Bottom line... I just can't use widgets. Once I cleared the data in apps for Android Stock, it went away. It will only allow you to have what it came with. ------------------------------------------------- Hello, Found a final resolution to "Stock Android Stopped Working" Pretty much did what everyone did and none of them worked for me. I realized that it had to do when I was setting up my shortcuts in Widgets Resolution: 1. Go to settings and click on Apps 2. Scroll down to find Stock Android 3. Click on it 4. Now click on where it says Permissions 5. All 3 items need to have a check ✓ mark For me my contacts was not checked off. Once I gave it permission... it went away. I redid my direct Dials and direct messages in widgets. It has not come back. Hope this helps those frustrated as I was
