Antwort auf „750 GB Hybrid Seagate SATA Hard Drive”I've a 750GB Momentus XT in my 2008 MBP. It's OK, but it's not faster than a 7200rpm HDD, and booting up is actually slower. Not impressed.
Antwort auf „Keyboard and trackpad stop working intermittently repeating keys”Hey, I have an update on this. The week after logging my comment above I decided to replace my HDD... I was running out of space and figured that I had nothing to lose except the $80-odd cost of the new drive. Well, I followed the ifixit guide and everything went smoothly: MacBook Pro 15" Core 2 Duo Models A1226 and A1260 Hard Drive Replacement Whilst I had the unit open I also blasted all the dust out with a can of compressed gas. It's been about four weeks now and so far (touch wood) I've had absolutely no problems with the keyboard or trackpad. I also notice that the unit runs signficantly cooler (around 20C less on the CPU and GPU). I don't know whether dust, heat or a general lack of disk space was the cause of the keyboard/trackpad problems, but whatever it was doesn't seem to be an issue now. I'm not going to advise anyone to take their laptop apart if you're at all unsure about it, and certainly not if it would affect a warranty you may have. But personally I figured it was driving me up the wall...
Antwort auf „Keyboard and trackpad stop working intermittently repeating keys”I have exactly the same problem with my macbook pro... it's been like it for a few months now. I've a wireless keyboard and mouse which work perfectly whenever the laptop keyboard/trackpad fail. A more recent development is the kernal panics which are happening probably twice a week on average, although sometimes I'll get four or five one after another. I've heard the rumour about this often being caused the keyboard ribbon under the battery and have tested that out by inserting a small piece of paper between the ribbon and the metal of the case, but it hasn't helped at all. I have also tried removing the battery completely and just running from the mains, but the problem persists. I took it into my local Apple store and consulted a "genuis" who suggested that it could be that the plists are corrupted or else the logic board has failed. I know it's not the plists as it happens for all users - including new ones I've set up to test this theory. If it is the logic board and this affects other machines,...
