I bought this Switch Lite with a broken LCD to repair and sell, so the screen was already blown out, but I had the same issue. The LCD was still connected to the digitizer and it actually peeled the LCD apart. As I said earlier, the LCD was already broke so it wasn’t a big issue, but I would of been fairly angry if it hadn’t of been.
Do not attempt to disconnect the plug by pulling on the wires! If you rip out the wires, you’re gonna have a very bad day. Wiggle the plug using the plastic on the male end of the connector while pulling out.
Thanks for putting this guide together. Needed a quick refresher so I didn’t end up breaking things even more than they already were.
The only thing that I think might be helpful is putting the info about how to unlock the hinge for removal. I feel like a lot of people might of missed the link that some very kind people posted in the comments section, judging by some of the comments here. It definitely drove me crazy trying to figure out how to break it down years ago… Maybe it easier to find now.
Thanks for putting this together. I had been a while since the last time I replaced a 3DS lower LCD and definitely needed a refresher. Appreciate the effort that went in to this. Many thanks!
It’s the Tessa tape sold here.

Just because I feel like this needs to be stated clearly, “Do no attempt to pull the plug out by the wires!”
Pull from the plastic, male end of the plug or you’re going to end up have a very bad day.
Thanks for putting this up. I was wondering how different it was going to be, compared to tearing down the Pro.
My model of 2DS(2017?) is definitely laid out a little differently than pictured. Be careful not to miss any of the tiny ribbon cables at the bottom.
The motherboard of my 2017(I think) 2DS is definitely laid out differently than in this guide, be careful.
