2006-2008 Isuzu i-Series Troubleshooting
- Windshield wipers malfunctioning
- Service Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) warning
- Oil life indicator warning
- Headlights malfunctioning
- Low coolant warning
Windshield wipers malfunctioning ¶
The windshield wipers will not operate at all or operates sporadically.
Bad wiper motor ¶
It is possible the motor inside the wipers has gone bad and must be replaced. This could just happen over time and use, as parts will malfunction and stop working. Read the following repair guide for steps on how to replace the wiper motor.
Service Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) warning ¶
A dashboard warning appears stating to check TPM, or check Tire Pressure.
Tire pressure is low ¶
The tire pressure of a car becomes low gradually over time, or if you have a small leak, the pressure could release more quickly.
Use a tire pressure gauge to test the PSI (pounds per square inch) of each of your tires. Ensure that the tires are cold and not driven recently to get the most accurate readings.
Refer to the owner's manual or inside the driver's side door for the standard PSI for your vehicle. In this case, the maximum PSI for standard tires is 33 PSI.
The PSI for different tires can be found on the sidewall of each tire.
TPM needs to be reset ¶
If all tires are within an acceptable PSI range, the Tire Pressure Monitor may need to be reset(link).
TPM needs to be replaced ¶
If the above steps do not fix the issue, it is possible the Tire Pressure Monitor is faulty and needs to be replaced.
Oil life indicator warning ¶
A dashboard warning appears stating to change oil, or check oil life.
Oil change is needed ¶
First, refer to the last time the vehicle's oil has been changed. In most cases, oil should be changed about every 3000 miles. Press the button on your dashboard until your total mileage is displayed to find out if it is time for your oil to be changed.
Oil life indicator needs to be reset ¶
If the oil does not need to be changed, it is possible the indicator just needs to be reset and was not done during the last oil change. For most accuracy, follow these steps the next time your oil is changed(link).
Headlights malfunctioning ¶
Headlights flicker or will not turn on at all.
Burned out bulb(s) ¶
The most common issue for headlights not working is that a bulb has burned out. Unfortunately, it is not very easy to replace the bulbs in the Isuzu i-Series.
Refer to the headlights manual for instructions on how to access the bulbs(link).
Loose connections ¶
A connection may have come loose at some point. Also refer to the headlights manual for best instructions on which wires to check(link).
Fuses blown ¶
If the headlights are still not functioning after checking the wires and replacing the bulbs, a fuse may have gone bad. This happens with use and time, or possibly a short in the wiring. Again, refer to the headlights manual for reference of which fuse(s) to replace(link).
Low coolant warning ¶
A dashboard warning appears stating to check coolant.
Coolant needs to be changed ¶
After use, if regular examinations are not performed professionally, your coolant will eventually be used. Refer to the coolant manual on how to change/fill the coolant(link).
