Device won't turn on
The device doesn’t turn on when you press the power button.
Hard reboot
First take out the battery and unplug the AC adapter. After that is done press and hold the power button for 20 seconds. Once you do that then put the battery and the AC adapter back in and try to turn it on.
Battery could be dead or the AC adapter could not be working.
First plug in the laptop and look to see if the charging light comes on. If there is no charging light, then the AC adapter might need to be replaced. If there is a charging light, then press the power button. If the device doesn’t turn on, then the battery might need to be replaced.
Bad power button
If your charging light is on when plugged in and you have tried a new battery, then you could have a problem with the power button. You might want to try replacing that.
Bad screen or graphics card
Try hooking up an external monitor to the HDMI port (or another display port). After you do this try turning it on and pressing the FN and F4 keys (these are the keys that are usually used on laptops to change the display to the monitor). If you press the buttons and the screen boots up on the monitor, then you might have a bad screen or graphics card. If there is no display on the external monitor, then the problem might be on the motherboard.
Webcam won’t turn on
The webcam does not activate or display video when it should.
Webcam is disabled
The camera may be disabled in the privacy settings. This is a very common problem that usually occurs when using Windows 8 or 8.1. Go to Lenovo Settings, click “camera” and click if it is on “private” click “normal.”
Camera is not recognized in device manager
When in device manager, a yellow exclamation mark indicates that the driver is installed improperly or is out of date. Right-click, then click “uninstall”. Then right-click “Imaging devices” and click “scan for hardware changes.” This should reinstall the driver automatically.
If the yellow exclamation mark is still there, go to https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/produ...) and download the webcam driver.
Touchpad does not work
You go to slide your finger across the touchpad, in turn moving the mouse across the screen, but wait! It doesn’t work!! How could this happen? Worry not, for we are here to save you!
Check the software
Make sure to check the “TrackPoint” (if you have one) to see if you’ve accidentally disabled the touchpad, if you have the TrackPoint will work, if you didn’t it will not work. (The TrackPoint looks like a little dot in the middle of your keyboard) if the problem persists, continue to troubleshoot, or follow this guide: <Link to guide>
Was the disable/enable button pressed on accident?
Most laptops, if not all of them, have a button that enables and disables the touchpad. This button is usually F6, if you think you may have pressed it, then press it again. (Usually you can see if you pressed it by looking at the bottom right of your screen, it will show a tiny touchpad with a red ‘X’ on it) Remember, sometimes the button requires you to press the “function” key before pressing it first, the function key is the button that is labelled “ Fn ” usually at the bottom left of your keyboard.
Computer may be frozen.
Sometimes when the computer freezes, the mouse will stop moving. If you think it may be this, just restart your computer to fix it.
External devices disabling the touchpad
You may have plugged in something that disabled the touchpad, this often happens with mice and other USB or PS/2 devices. To fix this, just turn off the computer, unplug any external devices, and then turn the device back on.
