If your Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL is having issues connecting to the Wi-Fi, follow this troubleshooting guide for potential solutions.
Malfunctioning Hardware / Connection Issues +
- Ensure the Wi-Fi hardware switch is enabled (if present) and press Fn + F5 (or the function key with a Wi-Fi symbol) to toggle Wi-Fi on.
- Confirm Airplane Mode is off in Settings > Network & Internet
- Check your router/modem
- Ensure cables aren’t loose or damaged from bending, if your router has lights they could indicate internet issues.
- Go to your router and turn off and on
- Perform a power cycle by shutting down the laptop. This can be done by holding the power button for 30 seconds.
Outdated Network Adapter Drivers +
- Open Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, and look for your Wi-Fi adapter (e.g., Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201). If it’s disabled (downward arrow), right-click and select Enable device.
- If missing or showing an error, uninstall the adapter, restart your laptop, and let Windows reinstall it automatically.
- Confirm you have the latest Intel Wi-Fi driver or Lenovo-specific driver downloaded from the official support site using another device.
Outdated BIOS Compatibility Issues +
- An outdated BIOS can cause Wi-Fi issues. Visit the Lenovo support page, enter your laptop’s serial number, and install the latest BIOS update.
Misconfigured Network Settings +
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks, select your network, and click Forget. Then, run the Network Troubleshooter and reset network settings via Settings > System > Reset PC > Remove everything.
Overactive Power Management Settings +
- Disable Power-Saving and IPv6: In Device Manager, right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties > Power Management, and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Also, disable IPv6 temporarily in network adapter properties to test connectivity
