Sticky ABXY Buttons
ABXY Buttons once pressed stick to the inner circuits.
Dirty ABXY buttons
Dampen the cotton swab with rubbing alcohol, dabbing off any excess. Rub the cotton swab around the sticky button. Be sure to clean inside the crevices. Once you've cleaned around the button as much as possible, press it a bunch of times to work the rubbing alcohol into the crevices and loosen any debris left behind. If that does not resolve the issue you will need to remove the face plate.
Look at the bottom of the controller and locate the 4 TR8 Screws. Using the TR8 Screwdriver, unscrew and remove the face plate. Use a soft cloth dampened with an isopropyl alcohol (IPA) solution of 70% or less. Gently and thoroughly clean the ABXY buttons. Press the ABXY buttons to loosen the debris left behind. Lightly wipe away excess grime. Return the faceplate to its chassis and screw the TR8 screws back into place.
Button Pad is worn out
If cleaning your buttons doesn't fix the sticky buttons, follow this Button Replacement Guide.
Drifting Stick
Xbox controller drift is a typical problem in which the controller thumbstick reacts without physical movement by the player.
Worn-out springs
Thumbstick sensor component has two springs that help snap it back to the center. When the spring start to be worn down, the thumbstick began to drift. Replacing the springs fixes that problem.
Internal issues of Xbox controller are possible; the only solution is to replace it with a new one.
Dirty thumbstick pad: Thumbstick modules sometimes can be warned down due to overuse and no longer work proficiently.
Disassembling an Xbox controller if controller too dirty:
- # Separate both left and right grip,
- # Remove screws from each grip
- # After you should be able to see circuits from controller
- # Access trigger but do not take out screws from any additional areas.
- # Remove assembly from front case and gain access to majority of other components
- # Clean button with isopropyl alcohol (IPA)
Worn down thumbstick: if the thumbstick is too worn down the best option is to replace entirely. (See instruction above about disassembling Xbox controller).
Need to calibrate controller or adjusting dead zone:
- # Go to setting
- # Device and accessories
- # Xbox controller
- # Adjust the Xbox controller dead zone.
The controller disconnects while playing
While online the controller is continuously disconnecting from the source
The Xbox controller was working and disconnected from source
Imagine this: You're playing Xbox with friends and the game is getting heated when suddenly your controller stops working. You try reconnecting it, but it can't find a signal or is randomly turning off and on. What do you do?
Wrong Settings
Sometimes it’s just a settings issue. While the console is on, hold the Xbox button on the controller to open the Home screen. Then go to Settings > Power & startup > turn off after. Finally, Select the proper period you can accept after that the console will turn off automatically.
Improper Ventilation
Also, if your Xbox One console has bad ventilation, it will inform you and turn off suddenly. And with that, impacting your controller. You can fix this issue by.. Powering off the console. Then Wait at least one hour and move the console to a well-ventilated location and finally, you want to Clear the console vents. You are recommended to place the console in a well-ventilated place and use it there.
Console Heavy Load
If there are many controllers connected to one console, the connection between the console and any of the controllers is weak.
The controller won’t connect
The controller won’t connect/pair to the Xbox.
Faulty network
(more often than not is one of the main reasons a controller won’t pair to its source). For this issue, check the connection source to make sure both Xbox and TV are on the same Wi-Fi. How do you do this, you ask?
Go to
Home Menu
Settings
Network
"Test Network Connection"
Then "Test NAT Type"
Power cycle your console
To power cycle the Xbox, press and hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds, wait for it to completely power down, and then turn it back on.
Remove accessories
Certain USB devices may impact your wireless signal. Unplug ALL USB devices connected to your console then restart your Xbox for a fresh slate and try again.
Controller Won’t Vibrate
While I’m playing a game my controller doesn’t vibrate.
Controller Vibration Needs Turning On
If your controller is not vibrating the first step is to check that the vibration feature is enabled. You can do this by going to your settings, and under accessibility you will be able to find the controller tab. You can follow this guide for further directions.
Game May Not Support the Rumble Feature
The specific game you have chosen may not support the vibration feature, and therefore your controller may not be vibrating. To fix this problem, you may choose another game that does support this feature, and see if the problem still occurs. If that other game allows the controller to vibrate, then the issue is the game feature and not the controller.
The Controller Vibrator is Defective
If you’ve tried step one and step two and the controller still won’t vibrate, you likely have a defective vibrator motor. If this is the case, you want to follow this guide so that you may fix your issue.
