Verizon Ellipsis Jetpack MHS800L Troubleshooting
This is a troubleshooting guide for Jetpack MHS800L.
- Black Screen
- Failure to Read SIM Card
- Can’t Connect To Internet
- Won’t Charge
- Reset to Factory Defaults
Black Screen ¶
When I press the power button, the Jetpack MHS800L will not turn on.
Internal Battery Low or Dead ¶
Your battery may be dead, which means that it doesn’t have the power needed to light up the screen. Plug your charger into the wall and Jetpack to recharge the battery.
Defective Outlet ¶
If your Jetpack isn’t charging when plugged into outlet go to another outlet in a different room to verify outlet. If it begins to charge then first outlet was faulty and breaker needs to be check.
Screen Has Been Damaged ¶
While charging, the power button is green indicating that it is fully charged. Press the power button to turn on the Jetpack, screen remains black. Replace screen using the screen guide.
Failure to Read SIM Card ¶
Your Jetpack MHS800L will not read the Sim Card.
SIM Card Is Not Installed ¶
SIM Card is not found in slot. If you have lost your SIM card you will need to replace it.
SIM Card Is Upside Down ¶
Even though SIM Card is in the slot it is easily installed upside down. On the device next to the SIM card slot is a picture that illustrates how to install SIM card into slot. Do so accordingly.
Can’t Connect To Internet ¶
Your Jetpack MHS800L is turned on, but it will not connect to the internet.
Low or No Network Area ¶
There are areas in the United States that the Jetpack cannot connect to the Verizon network. You can be in one of these locations and will need to move in order to get service.
Data Used Up ¶
Even though the Jetpack is on and working correctly. The Version Network will not let you have Wi-Fi because you have used up all of the data your contract or prepaid limit allows. Make sure that your account balance is set appropriately.
SIM Card Not Installed ¶
Without the SIM card the Jetpack is unable to connect to the Verizon network, so make sure that the card is properly installed.
Internal Battery Low ¶
Your battery may be low. This means that it doesn’t have power needed to connect to network. When this occurs connect Jetpack to charger.
Won’t Charge ¶
Jetpack MHS800L refuses to turn on when connected to charger and plugged into outlet.
Defective Charger ¶
The charger for the Jetpack could be damaged and will not allow for the device to charge. If this is the case you will need to get a new charger.
Frayed Cable ¶
Cable maybe damaged not allowing the Jetpack to charge. Inspect the cable for any cuts, nicks, or brakes. If damaged is found replace the charger.
Defective Outlet ¶
If your Jetpack isn’t charging when plugged into outlet go to another outlet in different room to verify. If it begins to charge then first outlet is faulty and breaker needs to be check.
Defective Battery ¶
If the battery is damaged or is no longer functional it won’t matter if the charger is good or bad. The internal battery will need to be replace with one that functions properly. Use the battery replacement guide.
Reset to Factory Defaults ¶

Reset to Factory Defaults without admin password ¶
This is only possible either by verizon pushing instructions or over USB with jiggery pokery.
Contacting Verizon ¶
dial *611 or 611
Verizon Tier2 support will not be able to assist you. In short, if you forget the admin password (and the security question's answer) you have a slightly functional paperweight.
