Core separation

Even after all of the metal core screws have been removed, the two metal halves may not immediately separate. Although there's no adhesive you have to worry about, the parts are pressed together along a gasket with a weak black tape seal along the perimeter. It may be the case that you have to gently pry them apart.
Using a flathead screwdriver, simply insert it into the seam between the two halves and rotate to separate the two metal halves.
