Use an open end wrench wrench, or other flat and hard tool, to brace against the two prongs on the bottom of the traveling valve.

Place an open end wrench on the top portion of the traveling valve. Hold this wrench steady while you turn the other wrench counterclockwise until the bottom unthreads.

Pull the pump assembly apart and inspect or replace parts as necessary.
