  1. Take your Kindle DX and flip it to see the back. Use the opening tool from the ifixit toolkit and push it against the top part of the Kindle DX.

  2. Once enough pressure is applied the small piece will pop open.

    • Remove the plastic piece.

    • Once the small piece is removed locate the 2 small screws on each corner. Each screw is 40mm long and a Philips screwdriver from the kit with the size PH 0 fits perfectly to remove the screws.

    • Use the opening tool again to take the off the bigger metal piece.

    • Once the piece removed locate the battery.

    • Remove the two screws which are 30mm long and are holding the battery with the device. Use the PH00 Philips screwdriver provided in the toolkit.

    • Once screws removed you can easily take the battery off.

    • Use the PH000 Philips screwdriver to unscrew the 30 mm screws as shown in the pictures.

    • Remove the black case which reveals the mother board.

    • Use the Precision Tweezer Set from iFixit kit to remove the button from the side function keys.

    • Now you can replace the side button with the one that you bought.
