The Lens Barrier is used to operate the camera and to power it on and off. If the Lens Barrier is stuck, the camera is likely not working correctly. The Lens Barrier could have a damaged cable connector, a jammed spring, or it could have a foreign object wedged underneath the piece. Use this guide to help repair your Lens Barrier to restore your Fujifilm FinePix Z1.

When looking at the front of the camera, make sure the front is facing towards you, and then check to see if the lens barrier slides freely without anything coming in its way.

Make sure there is no debris trapped between the lens barrier and the camera lens. Examine the edges to see if there is anything that is blocking the movement.

Carefully slide the lens barrier back and forth to try to turn the camera back on. To ensure that the camera will turn on, double-check to see that it is properly aligned and on the track

Find the five outer screws ( 4 mm ) which hold the outer casing of the camera together.

Use a 1.0 flathead screwdriver and carefully screw the external screws. Make sure to place screws in a secured place.

Next, hold the top and bottom of the casing, and gently pull them apart.

Look at the back of the door to make sure the circular spring is still intact. If it is misaligned, carefully move the lens barrier and fix the springs to avoid any of the sticking points.

Next, find a thin flat orange cable. This controls the lens barrier and connects it to the main circuit board in the camera.

Carefully check the length of the cable to see that it isn’t frayed or broken. If the cable is broken, further measures will be required.

If the cable is broken, you may have to replace it if it is required.
