Microsoft Surface Headphones Motherboard Replacement

Firmly grasp the ear cushions and rotate them counterclockwise, about 45 degrees, until you hear a "click."
To replace the motherboard, you only need to remove the right cushion, labeled with an "R" on the headband.

Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the three 2.6 mm screws securing the right speaker housing to the chassis.

Lift the speaker housing away from the chassis, taking care not to damage the motherboard connections.

Before soldering the connections to your new motherboard, be sure to pay close attention to which wire goes where; they're very easy to mix up.
