No background is needed to take out or replace the battery. Taking out or replacing the battery is a very easy procedure to follow, but it is an essential prerequisite for removing other components in the phone.
If your battery is swollen, take appropriate precautions.

Insert your fingernail or plastic opening tool into the divot at the top of the rear-facing camera.

Gently pry and twist the flexible rear cover off the back of the phone.

Insert a fingernail or plastic opening tool into the recess in the bottom right corner of the battery and lift upward.

Remove the battery away from the phone.

Awesome! I called around to the “WeFixYourPhone” places and they told me that battery couldn’t be replaced in a Samsung S5 Active, or they’d replace it for $40 if I bought the battery. Battery $13.50 for a 3200 mAmp one, Amazon Primed it to me. And the 45 seconds to replace it is no joke. That’s all it took. It took longer to get the Otter Box off the phone.
