Why is my screen color bleeding when I press the home button?

Okay. This is my first post so be kind. I will try to be as descriptive as possible.

I was repairing a broken iPhone 4 (16GB) (Verizon). It's initial problem was that it had a cracked front screen. I ordered a front screen replacement and followed the step by step guide. Everything seemed great until I put the final screws back together and tested it.

Problems ...

1) When pressing the "home" button, the colors bleeds on the screen near the home button. Only when it is pressed though. It is as if someone is pressing hard on an LCD monitor.

2) The home button is sticky. It works, but it is not as responsive and snappy as it should be.
