I have an I phone 5s to put a new display in.
I already have a 5s with a fully working display.
I intended just to swop whole units including home button assermbly. just want to make sure that if I do that im not going to get probs with the home button finger print recog thing. it doesn't matter if it just needs setting up again

No you need to use the finger print scanner that was already on the phone as it's signed to that phone.
and no other finger print scanner that you buy will ever work with a 5s

There is a permanent pairing between the fingerprint sensor and the CPU. If you replace the display with home button, the fingerprint function is lost.
There is no way to solve this problem, not for us, not for apple, not now, not ever.
