White screen following digitizer repair

I recently purchased a digitizer repair kit for an ipad 3(screen, tools and adhesive). The LCD screen worked fine underneath, even the digitizer worked but it was badly cracked.

I carefully took off the old digitizer, disconnected the LCD screen , put in the new digitizer and reconnected the LCD screen.

the ipad now only shows a bright white screen. i checked the connection for the LCD screen and the digitizer and everything is connected fully. i tried a reset by pressing home key and power on/off button, but it just goes from white to blank to white again? i'm not even seeing the apple icon.

anyone know what i should do?
