USBports broken, Soldering or new motherboard?

As my wife was cleaning she moved my MBP to the sofa. Now it seems like both my USBports are broken.

One still powers my external drive, but the external is nowhere to be seen in finder. This same port doesn't power my iPhone nor does iTunes find my phone. The second port is completely dead.

Couldn't find any spear parts on iFixit so I thought I'd try to operate, and solder the ports back in place. IF possible..

Any thoughts, tips, comments, pics, help, good luck appreciated.

did u try restarting it? If that doesn't work then check by going into utilities and seeing if it shows up, all ur usb ports should show. If you find one missing than soldering is and option but I only recommend it if you have great amounts of experience in it as you can really screw things up really bad. If u don't think that u would be able to do it successfully then buying a new motherboard is a viable option.

Yes I've tried restarting and safebooting and repairing the disk.

Googled around and found out you can reset something by holding Shift-Control-Option-powerkey or Cmd-Option-P-R. Thought I'd try that before doing anything else. But I will also check the utilities if it shows up.

I also read that a lot of MBP:s have had problems with USBports and reseting might help.

I'll keep you up to date if I get them to work.

Read the console-log and found that there had been too high of a current, or something like that, wich caused the ports to go into disabled mode.

Reseting the SMC, Shift-Control-Option-Powerkey, didn't help. But might have saved me a second or two at startup..?

Reseting the NVRAM, (press Cmd-Option-P-R after the startupsound, release when you hear the startupsound again), and then choosing diskutilities and verifying the disk seems to have done the trick.

Both ports are now functioning. For how long is another question..

What caused the overcurrent? No Idea..!
