Salt Chlorinator Cell Repair

I want to find out how to repair a Salt Chlorinator Cell? It's a seemingly sealed unit with two electrodes inside which convert salt to chlorine. These electrodes get worn out or used up over time. Can these be replaced or replated? Any special tricks and things to know? Anything to be aware of so as not to mess things up? What's the worst that could happen?

Most cells can be replaced every 4-5 years. Get out the install manual, it should tell you how to tear down and get a new cell that matches your model, easy fix. Get a zinc anode to help with corrosion problem, it attracts the Na ions instead of all metal parts, easy to install on ladder or plumbing and will help prolong your cell...35 years in pool biz

Great idea about using a sacrificial zinc. I will be getting one for myself soon thanks.

Hi!

I am also looking for a solution. Take a look at this:

I have 2 dead cells that I will open soon. With 2 may be I will get enough good plates to make one. My main concern is what material should I use if I have to rebuild a conneting post and how to fix it to the plate?

Hi Richard,

The link domain appears to be dead.

Do you have any info and how did you go with rebuild.

Likewise I have bits but not yet sure how to connect. Spot Weld?
