Is the battery for C330 compatible for the above C550 model. You do not seem to have the battery replacement kit for C550 model hence this question. Thanks.

Kris, looks like the battery is the same for compatible models: Garmin StreetPilot C320, StreetPilot C340, StreetPilot C330, StreetPilot C530, StreetPilot C550. The part numbers should be IA3AB07B1A97, 361-00022-00, 361-00022-07

I'd go for the battery. Cheaper than a new model and it still gives the same directions. :-)
