Home button flex cable and Touch ID?

I was replacing a cracked screen on my iPhone 6 Plus and in the process ripped through the flex cable that is built into the metal plate that goes on the back of the screen. If I replace the metal plate with built in flex cable, will my Touch ID work? The home button itself is fine. I plan on just plugging the home button into the new flex cable and crossing my fingers.
