Is it a 2009 MacBook Pro or a retina MacBook Pro? Because they didn’t start making the retina models until 2012-2013.

If you’re not certain, just let us know if there is a DVD Drive on the side of the computer.

To find your Mac's screen specs, click the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen. From the drop-down menu, click About This Mac to open the System Information window.
