but can't remember my passcode. I want to return the phone to original by taking the battery out and resetting a new passcode. Or, is their another way??

You can take it to Apple. They'll just verify that it's your phone, and your set to go!

If it is just the passcode you can reset it via itunes by putting it in recovery mode.

That's true. You'll just need your email and password. I didn't think of that
