2012 kündigte Sony Entertainment an, dass die Firma eine neue Version ihrer Playstation 3 Konsole von 2006 herausbringen würde. Die neue Konsole nennt sich Playstation 3 Super Slim und trägt die Modellnummer CECH-4000. Die PlayStation 3 Super Slim (CECH400x) ist die dritte Version der PS3 Video-Spielkonsole, die von Sony Computer Entertainment hergestellt wird. Sie kam am 25. Oktober 2012 auf den Markt.
