ok so I pointed at it with the red arrow on one of the pics. I'm just wondering what that is. Is this a usb port? or a power slot? I cant seem to find ANYTHING on this thing. I found an internal bluetooth mod that went into the same slot but i'm afraid to try it. I also looked at schematics for this apple tv and nothing. Anyone have any good guesses?
maybe I can use it for a sata drive?

Not quite the resolution I’d need to be more specific, but it might be a diagnostic connector used by the OEM to test the mainboard.

There are connectors you can buy that will allow you to use a SATA drive instead. I have not done it, yet, so I can't advise which ones are best. Also I noticed people on YouTube replacing the HDD (which is Parallel - "PATA" drive, similar to ones found in laptops) with a conversion board that allows you to boot from a tiny Flash media card.
