Asus N56VZ screen hinges loose

Hello,

My 4 year old laptop's screen hinges are loose. The screen wobbles around when touching it. When opening the laptop, the top plate pops up. I have to put it back in place each time. You can see an example in the videos.

Video of top plate popping up:

I have no real idea and how to fix this. I opened up my laptop to see if anything is wrong, but I don't really see the issue. The back screw on the right side tightens, the one on the left side doesn't tighten anymore.

How the wobble looks like with the parts removed:

Right side: https://imgur.com/k4RiyBX https://imgur.com/i0FTO06

The part on the top plate where the right screw goes seems to be broken too. I don't think this causes any problems as the right screw can still be tightened: https://imgur.com/TyeftmH

Does anybody have any idea how I can fix this?

Thanks!

Hi,

I don't know if this is exactly a fix for your problem but it might be.

Here is a link which shows the replacement of the hinges in an Asus laptop. While it is not your model hopefully it is close enough to be relevant to yours so as to be useful.

Thank you for your answer. I don't hink the problem is the hinges, but rather the bottom plate where the hinges attach...

Hi Wouter,

Just a thought. Maybe you could try mixing an epoxy compound to put in the loose screwhole and then insert the screw and let it set in the correct position Also maybe completely cover the screwhead, plate and down onto the case to take a bit of the strain. Obviously be careful how far it runs, try the screwhole first then when set put some over the top a little at a time until satisfied.

Hi,

I have exactly same problem just in left side, I am so sorry for my self to spent such money for this laptop which I thought at least has better quality than other cheapest products.

I always take care of it and treat with it very professionally but have this kind of issues with asus laptops, and I never gonna spend penny for this lap top.

Shame on Asus to manufacturing this kind of worse quality, I am in Canada and I don't know where to go to fix it.

Thanks and good luck
