My phone is locked due to maximum number of wrong pattern drawn to unlock screen. Now it requires the my gmail and password to unlock. But i have forgotten my password. How may i retrieve my password? Or how to hard reset this phone? the volume key is not working!

You'll have to ask google about that. I think you can reset your google password online hopefully a changed password works on your phone.
Or you can alternatively do a factory reset, if your volume keys worked.
