SD Card Stopped Working

Tablet worked fine with 4.4.2 (Jellybean) before Kit Kat "downgrade". SD card useless now & videos stutter. Has anyone had success rooting this AFTER OTA move to 4.4.2 (Kit Kat). All methods I have tried have failed and all privacy related apps have not worked. If you have 4.4.2, DO NOT ACCEPT OTA UPDATE! Then you can root and use app opps permission manager. I know this is a software problem but SW controls the hardware.
