Washer won't start with start button

My washer will light up when I delete what kind of load I want but nothing happens when I press the start button. I will sit here and hold start but it won't ever start. It flashes no codes either.

I had this issue as well. It's not the latch, or the control board, or anything else I saw on here. For me is was a simple fix. Remove 3 hex head screws from the back that hold down the top panel of washer. Slide toward back and lift off of machine. In the front, opposite the latch, inside, there are 2 "quick connect " wire inserts. The top one is for the latch sending signal to control board so the start button knows the latch is engaged and will now work. Mine was not clipped in all the way and shook loose because of heavy spin cycles I presume. Just push it in till it clicks. Easy as that in my case. *Obviously disconect from power at the wall outlet 1st. This is literally a 5-10 minute fix/ check. With no out of pocket cost. If it's not your issue then it was only a few minutes of your time. Good Luck.

Thank you, this totally works!

I believe I have same issue. My fix may not be as easy because I have stacked my dryer on top of my washer. I just want to confirm that there is no way to get to this fix without removing top panel, which will mean taking down my dryer.

My model 110 washer won't lock. Just get 3 beeps. Latch problem?

The latch locking the door may be broken or otherwise is not engaging. If everything else is working, the start button possibly is not making contact in the back when you are pushing it. More about this when I get back from fixing my own washer with the same problem.

I have had this issue off and on for 3 years. Sometimes the panel works perfect and sometimes only some of the buttons work. So I have to use a different setting for my wash. I have tried unplugging it but that did not work. So, I just wait and sometimes it takes a few days for all of the buttons to work. Any real solution or diagnosis

Cause 1

User Control and Display Board

To determine if the user control and display board is defective, try pressing the buttons on the control panel. If some of the buttons work, but others do not work, the control and display board might need to be replaced. Additionally, if the display is not working, check the power to the user control and display board. If the user control and display board has power, but it isn’t working, replace it.

Cause 2

Timer

The timer is frequently misdiagnosed—before replacing the timer, first check all of the more commonly defective parts. To determine if the timer is defective, consult your washer’s wiring diagram and use a multimeter to test the timer for continuity.

Cause 3

Line Fuse

The line fuse blows if the washer circuits are overloaded. If the line fuse blows, the washer won’t start. To determine if the line fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. In addition, you should investigate and resolve the problem that caused the fuse to blow. Check for shorted out components such as the wires, motor, or drain pump. If you don’t resolve the underlying issue, the new fuse will blow too.

I just paid a repairman to diagnose my Kenmore Elite Washer (5 yo) that has a control board that lights up but the Start button would not trigger the lock to close and start the cycle. His diagnosis was that the spongy switch contact behind the panel was worn out. He told me I needed a new control panel. That he could not simply switch out the switch contact. He put everything back together and sent me an estimate for over 600.00 to replace the cover or the panel or both with ones from OEM.

After he left I took the control cover off, switched the spongy contact with one from a switch I never use and put everything back together and it works great. The worn out contact must cost no more than 10 cents, but I cannot find a way to buy new ones.
