Why is my right bumper phantom pressing itself?

Hi, Yesterday i woke up and turned on my controller to play some black ops 3. Well next thing i know it's automatically taking me from the home side of the dashboard to the other side of the dashboard like it was stuck. So i clicked on it a few times to see if it would stop that didn't work so i opened it up and nothing is out of the ordinary. the bumper isn't broken and the button that makes the click internally is pressing normally. I am absolutely furious right now. i put it back together then threw it on the ground and the bumper poped out it.. what is the problem? besides the fact the bumper is out i can fix that.

Hey Trace I just had this problem . After several youtube videos that didnt help at all, I found the solution.

I toke apart the controller and actually carefully push the housing unit of the bumper switch toward its respective button and it worked. I dont really know why but it does. I had up my pcsx2 emulator, to test the button functions in the control mapping. I kept the back of the controller attached and just took off the face. This way you can put the battery back in and while the controller is running (and with the mapping test on the emulator) open you can carefully press against the housing unit until you see that it is functioning properly. Good luck to you man hope it all works out,

I have this problem too. I don’t want to destroy my controller by taking it apart. I have very little experience with things like this. I am trying to find out if it can be fixed without taking the whole controller apart.

Ok I know this is old but my controller was doing the same thing and whatever I did seemed to fix it so I’m going to post exactly what I did leading up to it working again.

I hit it (Ik lmao)

I held it down then stopped and did this a few times

I blew into the button (this is what I’m assuming worked the best)

I also pried on it for a second with my finger but I don’t think it did anything and it could’ve easily messed it up worse so I’d recommend not doing that.

This most likely won’t work for everybody but it’s definitely worth a shot if the button itself isn’t broken and it’s just “phantom pressing” itself over and over.

Essentially, I did a very similar thing. I smacked it against the wall a couple times and that sorted it for a little while but then it stopped working again. Also, leaving it for a day or two also seemed to work for me. I also hit the RB bumper on the wall and on my chair a few times, a little bit out of frustration and a bit out of logic. I’ve seen videos online of people fixing TVs and other various objects by hitting them so I did the same and it worked. I tried to take the controller apart but I don’t have the right screwdriver so I can’t really.

But, in conclusion, I smacked it
