My LG TV crashed after firmware update

Hello all,

is anyone able to help me with my issue, please?

I just tried to update firmware on my LG TV 55UG870V-ZA by manual method (download firmware file from LG website and extract it to USB flash drive into "LG_DTV" folder). Everything seemed good, so after update completed, TV was restarted and after restart only strange flashing screen without any normal image... In this moment I can only turn off TV...

Before fw update, my version was 2.xx.xx and I try to update 4.05.45 ...

Is any way how to fix it? Some factory default or restore previous fw version from some service menu...

Many thanks, I am desperate from this :(

Hi,

You did check the reference tab on the webpage didn't you, as it states "Please check the reference Tab exactly"? There are no references at all as to which models can be updated to 4.05.45.

Your particular model IS listed under update 4.00.90.

Perhaps, and this is only a suggestion as I do not know, try to install this version and see if it does work on your model. I realize that it says that it won't install lower version but what have you got to lose. it might.

Here is a link to the information.

You're probably right, correct FW will be propably 4.00.90 but I need way hot to make downgrade because I can not turn ON TV correctly...

OK I will try it. So I find two parts for this TV:

1) http://www.ebay.com/itm/6870C-0546B-LG-5...

2) http://www.ebay.com/itm/MAIN-AV-BOARD-EA...

Surely it must be replaced second part?

Thanks

Hi.

Yes it looks like it is the 2nd part you mentioned. As long as the board numbers are "exactly the same" between your board and the replacement board.

The 1st part that you listed (the TCON board) connects the video signals from the mainboard to the LCD panel.

Hi,

Hi, From what information is available about the only thing that you can do is to replace the mainboard.

Here is a link for one (I think - check the board number in your TV to verify) that is no longer available just to give you an idea of the cost.

I haven't found any others but then again it is easier to locate if you search for the board number than just the general term of LG 55UG870V-ZA mainboard.
