Turn on, get green light for a second then, a click and it shuts off

I turn on the ps3 from the back, the light is red. When I push power light turns been for a split second and I hear something click, like a breaker tripping. I've tried turning on the system with the eject held, but it does the same thing. What could be causing this?...
