charging mode stays on when disconnected
Unable to turn off charging screen even when disconnected from cable. this tends to run battery down. This occurs even when charged over night.

I'd say bad battery or logic board, probably the logic board, in which case you're better off replacing it because replacing the board is costly and difficult.

it is time for you to get a new ipod to be truly honest. it might be the the iTuens program you are using, if you updated. if that doesnt help, try to reset, and reformat it

The emphasis is repair before replacement, however there is a strong chance that it's better to replace it if it's the logic board.
