yelvertonkathy , It is probably a broken door latch cable giving you the problem. Hopefully the video links will enable you to see how to repair, or if not up to the task have a good Technician have a look and estimate repair. Local auto parts suppliers should have a replacement cable for you if needed. Good luck.
