Ranger wont start aftyer replacing fuel pump.

Check engine light goes out when cranking, good spark. Tried jumping across the starter relay with no luck.

Did you get air in the fuel line and form a vapor lock?

@aclee ,Arthur, Try reseting the fuel pump shut off switch pg. 48 of the manual(1st link below), check fuses and relay. Did you change the pump on the assumption it was bad or did you know it was bad. Have you tried to pull error codes(light does not have to be on to have trouble codes). Do you hear the fuel pump cycle when you first turn the key to the on position. Try spraying an ounce of fuel or use starting fluid directly in the throttle body and see if it starts and runs until the fuel depleted. I have seen new pumps that were faulty, clogged fuel filter, bad wires/plug/ground for pump, pinched damage fuel line,crank sensor faulty, etc.,etc.. If you have a way have the truck scanned for trouble codes as this may help pin point the issue. Some of the auto parts suppliers offer free code reading like Pepboys, Nappa, Advanced auto parts,etc and some of the guys are very knowledgeable and may have seen the issue often and put you on the right track. I'm having the same problem. I wasn't getting no fuel pressure in my fuel rails so I put a new fuel pump in it but it still doesn't have pressure and won't start. Please help

Have you checked the relay? If relay good. Need to replace the ecm . Did it run rough? Then ran good? Change ecm with one from another car like yours. Check pull a part. They have a website for interchangeable parts. Good luck

Ensure there is no air in the fuel line, as that would create a vapor lock. Also make sure the pump is getting power and works correctly.

I found mine to be the ground at fuse box was dead. try this in video. if works replace fuse box
