My iPod 3rd Gen will play music from its previous owner, when I plug it into the computer it says "Do not Disconnect" flashes but isnt seen by the computer or itunes. I have tried resetting and nothing seems to get it to see.
Ist dies eine gute Frage?

Clayton Little did you try to connect it with Firewire connection instead USB? The 3rd gen can only sync via USB and not fully charge. It does however sync and charge via Firewire support. Best bet to get it going is by ensuring you have a known good battery and that you use a Firewire connection to see if that works. It needs to be connected to a FireWire port to work reliably and charge at the same time. It is designed to be connected to FireWire (not USB) using the included FireWire docking cable. If you are connecting it to a USB port, that may explain the problems.
You can always try the diagnostics mode as described on here to see if it gives you any error.
As a sidebar, I love the sound that comes out of my 3rd gen. Prefer it over anybody's new iPhone:-)

I am using the Firewire 800 to 30 Pin with a thunderbolt convertor to run into my Macbook Pro 2015. It seems to be charging. I will try the other way around with only usb and let you know how that works.
I think iTunes stopped supporting Firewire sometime around version 10. so you would charge with Firewire but sync with USB
I tried syncing with both and it would see it in windows but not on mac. The windows said the drive was corrupt and would crash before opening.
It also saw with USB as well on windows. The iPod is formatted windows.
I will be putting a CF Card in place of the HDD within the week.
