Is there a way to disable battery charging MacBook Pro 2017 TouchBar?

Hi

I have a question is there an option to disable battery charging by software or hardware.

I remember Macbook Pro Unibody 2011 magsafe plug - if you cover the middle pin the battery will no charge, and only the power from the socket will go trough and power the laptop - I used that method when I had that model.

Bu t now I have Macbook Pro 2017 TouchBar and I bought Baseus cable kind of magsafe plug but it has only 5 pins, I tried all variation to cover each pins and all combination, but not success, As I'm not electrician guy I can't test it further.

So my question if some one has that kind of Macbook and Baseus AC Cable with magnetic plug can you test it

I am sorry since there is only a poor idea that I can give you about this which is to open up the your macbook and disconnect the battery from the motherboard. From there on, your mac will work 100% dependent on the DC power supply, which is also inconvenient if the charger is disconnected your mac will turn off.

What I also wonder is why do you want to do that in the first place? Is it about the battery cycle?

Here I'm also interested in the subject. It is an issue of battery cycles in my case, limited to a thousand before battery performance starts to decline in recent models of Mac book. I'm a heavy user of my laptop and need to charge it twice a day. That only gives about a year and a half before battery starts to decline. I used to remove the battery of my HP laptop during the day, hence that laptops battery is 5+ years old and still in good shape.

I am especially interested in the question, how to turn off charging, because:

I want to be able to unplug the charging cable whithout cutting the current with the physical connection by doing this. I think after x time unplugging with a “lightning” in the plug, the plug will be burned out.

Similar to the programm Jettison, that allows me to eject external discs before going to sleep, I would like to have the possibility to turn off charge, may be for 30 minutes or so, or to stop it until the battery is discharged to let’s say 40% (needs to be defined. Both would help.

Please programmers, work on that!

(Sorry for my very bad english xD) Unfortunately it is not possible to disable charging. But if your MacBook is charged to 100 percent the system automaticly stops charging so your battery doesnt get damaged over time. I have the same problem because my MacBook is also plugged in an external Monitor which charges the MacBook via USB-C. So it also gets charged constantly. But however it doesnt seem to harm battery life.
