''try this ... i had the same problem with the same camera and this fixed it.
remove the battery, and remove the memory card ... then re-install the battery & turn on the camera. this process seems to reset the camera, if the battery ran too low.
now you can re-install the memory card & battery and resume normal operation.
be sure to check for the small flashing green light on the back of the camera (next to the "flash" indicator symbol). it should be blinking when the camera is charging.''

I tried the procedure unfortunately it didn't work, thanks though.
i done as u said and it did not work
Did not work. Tried times. Disappointing after buying a new battery and they are not cheap.
Those batteries are smart with a chip in them. Only allow so many cycles or limit the time used-years.
One of the best cameras for I have for posting on CL with its PC mode low resolution setting

It did not work. Tried it 3 times. Dissapointing especially after buying new battery.

Take the battery out, make sure it's not plugged in and press the on button about 20-30 times. It worked for me. Good luck.

why is my camra showing Battery exhausted
von ritadonagher
The problem with my cool pix aw130 was the little yellow plastic tab that supposed to keep the battery shoved tightly against the terminals . In time , it wears and the battery no longer makes contact ; hence never getting recharged . The fix is simple ! Cut a 1/4” x 1/4” piece of paper , cardboard , or plastic , and wedge it between the yellow tab and the battery . Then recharge , as before .
