My washer is not sensing that the lid is closed.
I have a GE top load washer model GTW680BSJ5WS. It is not sensing that the lid is closed and therefore will not start. I have replaced the lid lock, unplugged it for an extended period of time, attempted to reset it, and it does not appear that any of the connections are loose. I am completely out of ideas of what is wrong and how to fix it.
Ist dies eine gute Frage?

I am having this issue now. Washer is barely a year old. Should not be having this issue. I am going to report this appliance if my replacing the switches does not work. A new board coats as much as a new washer and should not need to be replaced after only a year!

Hi @sharonbraveheart,
I agree that it should not have to be replaced but electronic components/ switches etc., do fail prematurely occasionally,
Don't replace anything before checking the manufacturer's warranty for your washer.
Most manufacturer's give a 12 month parts (and labour - depends on manufacturer) warranty on the appliance.
if your washer is less than 12 months old follow the directions in the warranty as to what to do to make a claim for a manufacturer's warranty repair /replacement.
If it is just over the 12 months still contact the manufacturer anyway and see if they will help at all. Express your disappointment that a "quality" product such as theirs should fail so early on. If nothing else it is feedback for them to improve their quality control systems.
