Why is my home button not working

This could be the cause of a damaged home button and/or damaged screen. The connection runs through the screen for the home button which is usually the cause of Touch ID not functioning. The actual home button itself not functioning suggests that it may need to be replaced. However, in replacement of home buttons for iPhones you may run into the Touch ID not being functional even after replacement due to them needed to be paired to each logic board individually.
