Washer will not start. it just grinds and beeps.

I have a Kenmore Laundry Center model 417.61722510, which is a combo washer/dryer and the washer doesn’t work, but the dryer works well.

it has been turned off until I find a solution for it.

I plugged it in today and it still did not lock the lid, but the engine, or the pump, made a loud noise for a while, about 2 or 3 minutes, beeping a couple of times before stopping the moise. I then pressed the start button and nothing happened, no beep at all.

I already replaced the lid switch, so that was not the problems.

Any help, suggestion with be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Tony.

417.61722510 is the number for the dryer, see if there is a number for the washer section

I looked everywhere and that is the only number I found. I used the same number to order a lid switch from Sears.

I'm not certain, but it does not seem to be an electrical issue. The noise happens as soon as I plug the machine and is like the engine is revving loudly. In between, at some intervals, I hear the washer beeping. This goes on for about 2 or 3 minutes and then stops. I usually just unplug it.

An update on what I've done so far.

I replaced the lid switch, the washer electronic control board, the laundry center electronic control board, the laundry center washer motor and gear case, and the laundry center washer mode actuator, and the problem remains. Question for anyone of you guys: When replacing the motor and actuator, is there any kind of resetting of electronics/motor to be done?

Also, the only model number I have and there is, according to the Sears guys, if the one I provided earlier. I used that to get the parts I needed.

Thanks for any input.

Did you ever figure it out?

Cause 1

User Control and Display Board

To determine if the user control and display board is defective, try pressing the buttons on the control panel. If some of the buttons work, but others do not work, the control and display board might need to be replaced. Additionally, if the display is not working, check the power to the user control and display board. If the user control and display board has power, but it isn’t working, replace it.

Cause 2

Timer

The timer is frequently misdiagnosed—before replacing the timer, first check all of the more commonly defective parts. To determine if the timer is defective, consult your washer’s wiring diagram and use a multimeter to test the timer for continuity.

Cause 3

Line Fuse

The line fuse blows if the washer circuits are overloaded. If the line fuse blows, the washer won’t start. To determine if the line fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. In addition, you should investigate and resolve the problem that caused the fuse to blow. Check for shorted out components such as the wires, motor, or drain pump. If you don’t resolve the underlying issue, the new fuse will blow too.
