I have a short in wires to my driver side lock and windows on 04 sebri

I squeeze the rubber protecting the wires and my windows will work than not work. They never work when the door is completely open. I have a short in there somewhere. I can't find any videos on how to change this out. Can I cut it open and try to repair them or how should I go about fixing this? I am car litterate.
