Power button not turning on

Hi, my laptop is fully charged yet the power button doesn’t feel like its working. The light next to it doesnt turn on and neither does the laptop’s screen. I know its charged because the battery light is white which means its fully charged. I don’t know what to do.

Has is taken a fall recently, or was something dropped on it? Basically, I'm asking if there is anything that might've physically happened to it.

Old buddy of mine showed up at my door the other day with the same laptop and the same problem. It does look a bit beat up but nothing deadly. I took the bottom cover off to give it a quick look and it looks like the power button might need reseated or replaced. Once I have the time to take a better look. I will let you know what I find out.

If your Toshiba computer won't turn on or becomes non-responsive. Try performing a soft power cycle. If the computer is still non-responsive or won’t turn on try performing a hard power cycle to restore proper operation. The explanation below will help you in performing these tasks.

Soft Power Cycle:

  1. Press and hold down the power button for 20 seconds or until the computer shuts down.
  2. Press the power button to turn the computer back on
  3. If this did not resolve your issue continue with the Hard Power Cycle procedure

Hard Power Cycle (For computers that have removable batteries):

  1. Unplug the computer from the AC adapter.
  2. Remove the battery from the computer.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
  4. Re-Install the battery.
  5. Re-Connect the AC adapter.
  6. Press the power button to turn the computer back on
