Firing order 2017 Elantra 2.0
I am getting the code for the misfire on cylinder 3. I need to know the firing order to replace the ignition coil
Ist dies eine gute Frage?

on every engine in every car the cylinders cascade backwards from 1-infinity from the front of the engine (side with the belt) to the rear (side that is bolted to the transmission). Your car has a 4 cylinder inline engine with cylinder one on the left side, cylinder 4 on the right. Replace the coil of whichever cylinder has the misfire, cant guarantee this will solve anything. Cylinder 3 has the misfire? replace the coil third from the left

If you have a DTC (diagnostic trouble code) displaying a cylinder 3 misfire, they are referring to the cylinders position, not firing order. If you are cross referencing firing order you either have been misinformed or are overthinking something.
For your 2017 Hyundai Elantra 2.0, Firing order is 1-3-4-2 distributerless ignition system.

The firing order is not the same as the cylinder order. So if you replace the Coil Over Plug (COP) for the firing order number 3, you will have actually replaced the COP responsible for the number 2 cylinder. Since you stated that you're getting a code for a misfire on cylinder 3 the firing order number you are looking for is 4.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Cylinder order…1 2 (3) 4
Firing order……. 1 3 (4) 2
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
A couple quick things. First, the details of the code you are presented with are very important to pay attention to. If the firing order or the vehicle's mechanical timing signatures were in question, the code given would be structured differently. But since it was a cylinder that experienced a misfire the code given was to direct maintenance toward the cylinder in question. So given the diagram above, I have put in parentheses the cylinder number you should inspect.
Lastly, if you do happen to find that it is in fact the COP that went bad and not some other issue, I would suggest that you go ahead and replace all four of the coils at the same time. Generally, if one goes bad the rest will soon to follow. And since misfires can lead to other costly repairs, your vehicle's engine would be better off not having to experience them any more than necessary. The coils can be an expensive part to purchase depending on where they're being sold. So shopping around for deals can be very much worth the time and effort.

Is this facing the car or facing away from the car?
A little late but maybe this will help someone in the future. If you are getting a misfire on cylinder 3 replace the ignition coil on 3. It has noting to do with firing order. Lot of misinformation about this online. The code is related to the actual cylinder.In this case 3. Not the firing order. The order of the cylinders on a Hyundai run left to right 1-2 -3 -4

car left? or left when standing in front and looking backwards? why don't they just put the cyl #s on the plastic cover?
I JUST REPLACE MINE AFTER GETTING A CODE P0302. Misfire on cylinder 2 after changing spark plugs. I changed the one 2nd from left and voilà‼️ Engine light gone off! Hope this helps

I just got the same exact code for Cylinder 2, Hopefully mine is the same and it's just the spark plug!!!!

Thank you guys for this thread. Just fixed a misfire on cylinder 1 (did everything under the sun to 1234) but it is in fact 4321 (for me at least)

happy fixing

I just check everything symmetrically now if I'm honest. (1) 2 3 (4) is the same as (4) 3 2 (1) if you just always check in pairs i guess. 😅
