When I look inside the barrel plug on the Chromebook, there is a small tongue of metal that catches the male plug of the power adapter. I can bend it down enough and angle the male plug enough to plug it in, but when the plug is removed, the metal flap again blocks plugging in the male plug. Can I replace the power connector on the Chromebook?

You will need SMD (surface mount device) soldering skills and tools to do the repair.
