I’m still working on the cause.
Dishwasher Water in the Bottom of the Tub. Some water (standing water), usually one to two cups, remaining in the bottom of the tub is normal. Is this your case?

I have the same issue with ours. Will only drain manually once the unit has cooled. Drains fine at that point. It’s not an issue with the plumbing being backed up. I’m thinking either the controller or drain motor itself. I’m wondering if it’s because we use the sanitize option and that is what is causing the drain motor to heat so much.

Anyone ever resolve this? We have the same issue with same model. I don’t believe that it’s the motor overheating as the draining only happens when the water is stone cold, e.g. left overnight. Leaving for, say, two hours does not fix it, even though the motor would be well cool after two hours.
BTW, I’m a professional engineer and pretty handy and there’s not much I can’t figure out and fix, but this one has me stumped!

No I am still running it as I have been. I have put off replacing anything just due to the fact that if I put a fan in front of the unit and remove the lower cover it does partially drain sometimes. I have no doubt the issue is something related to a thermal overload switch. The warmer the weather the longer it takes to allow it to drain. Last winter most of my loads would drain just fine.
As to your observation about the water being stone cold, yes I noticed the same. I think that whatever is being tripped must be close to the water and the water keeping it warm and open until it reaches whatever the threshold is.

I have the same issue with a Maytag. Must be a Whirpool brand issue. Works every time once cool. End of cycle the clean light is on but there is what appears to be the full amount of cycle water - cloudy water in the bottom of the dishwasher. I don't run the dry option.
