Is there a way to replace the bluetooth chip?

Apple is telling me they have to do a full unit repair and I am wondering if there is a cheaper solution.

Bluetooth functionality is combined with WiFi in the WLAN IC. This IC can be removed and replaced but it does require that the NAND IC also be removed and the WiFi address it contains has to be re-intialized. This is a big repair and requires a special programmer beyond the normal micro-soldering tools. You’ll need to call around micro-soldering shops because not everyone has the programmer required.

An 8 Plus is still a very valuable phone in the market and would certainly make sense attempting a logic board repair. You would need to find a reputable Pro in microsoldering who can assess the damage, to have the bluetooth working there are a number of components in play besides the “chip”. Depending on where you are, prices may vary but in any case a repair, if possible, would be way cheaper than replacing the device or its logic board.
