Why does my digitizer sometimes work?

I bought an IPhone which the touch screen is unresponsive randomly. The screen works for long periods of time then just randomly stops working. The screen has been replaced before but I don’t believe anything else has been replaced.

I have tried putting in another digitizer (One with a different edge colour as it was the only one I had to hand) and the problem continues.

When it stops working. I usually wait and it starts working again.

I don’t believe it is the touch disease as there is no grey bar at the top of the screen.

The phone has been hard reset and the problem still exists.

The grey bar is only one symptom. Touch Disease is actually progressive (as the pad/trace cracks up to the point where it is completely severed). Most phones start out with only intermittent touch issues, eventually getting to the point where it doesn’t work at all…grey bars may never occur.

If you have already tries replacement screens without resolving the problem, then Touch Disease is the most likely cause. The current best practice on repairing Touch Disease on the iPhone 6 Plus is to solidify the M1 pad (which is the LCM_TO_AP_HIFA_BSYNC line). That pad tends to lift, partially or totally when removing Meson.

This requires micro-soldering and is not a DIY repair.
